AI is now built into your software, not just sitting next to it

Oracle put ChatGPT and Codex directly inside the business software millions of companies already run — which means AI is no longer something you add separately, it comes with the tools.

Most businesses work by jumping between separate tools. There is software for accounting, a different tab for the AI assistant, another for code. On October 27, Oracle changed that for a lot of companies. AI is now built directly into the software, not sitting alongside it as an add-on you have to connect yourself.

At its AI World event in Las Vegas, Oracle announced four new products built with OpenAI. The biggest is Oracle AI Workspace, which connects ChatGPT to Oracle Fusion Applications and NetSuite — the platforms that handle payroll, invoices, and inventory for large parts of the global economy. Employees can ask questions and take actions in plain English, inside the tools they already use, with their existing permissions and approvals staying in place.

A second product, Oracle App Composer, puts Codex — OpenAI's coding agent — into the hands of regular employees. Someone in operations describes the tool they need, and Codex builds it. That turns building software into a team task, not just something engineers do. Oracle handles hosting, deployment, and access controls automatically.

For smaller businesses, Oracle added an SMB Bundle: free to start, with $12,000 in cloud credits a year, combining ChatGPT Business, Codex, and a quick-start version of NetSuite. The exact terms are not yet published, but the direction is clear: enterprise AI is reaching small businesses, not just big corporations. The practical move now is to check which platforms you already pay for — many are rolling out AI features that could replace tools you currently pay for separately.
